Gather

Happy Monday! It is a gloomy foggy day here which makes me just want to curl up and watch movies. Unfortunately, I really need to clean my house in preparation for hosting Thanksgiving this year (which, as you can tell, is also not getting done…lol.)

I have a very simple card for you this week. I am in love with the new Leaf Fragments die. I kind of just want to keep making them to decorate my house with but I am not sure the hubby would approve.

Materials Used

  • Tim Holtz/Sizzix Leaf fragments thinlits (665559)
  • Tim Holtz/Sizzix Lumber 3D embossing folder (662718)
  • Tim Holtz/Sizzix Funky Wreath thinlits (664434)
  • FSJ(Spellbinders) Hello Fall stamp set (sentiment – SS-0450)
  • Distress Spray stain- Rustic Wilderness, Ground Espresso, Gathered Twigs, Wild Honey, Weathered Wood, Pumice Stone
  • Distress Mica Stain -Flickering Candle
  • Distress Ink in Vintage Photo
  • Natural twine
  • Versafine Clair ink in Nocturne
  • FSJ silk in gold and black licorice

Steps

  1. Spray a 4″ x 51/4″ piece of mixed media card stock with various wood-type colors. I used Weathered Wood, Pumice Stone, Gathered Twigs and a little Ground Espresso. Let dry a bit between colors, wet with water, dry with heat tool etc until you have the look you want. Once that is dry, emboss it using the 3D lumber embossing folder. Distress the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink. Set aside.

2. Using Rustic Wilderness, Wild Honey , Gathered Twigs, Ground Espresso and the Flickering Candle mica spray, spray, wet, dry, spray etc another sheet of mixed media card stock. Save the mica spray for last so it leaves a nice shimmer and some splotches of shimmer to the paper. When this sheet is dry, use it to die cut several leaf fragments. I made A LOT…lol. Distress the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink.

3. Die cut the “twiggier” type wreath from the funky wreath thinlits set out of taupe card stock. Distress the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink.

4. Stamp “gather” on a scrap piece of mixed media card stock in black ink. Flick spots of color using the gold and black silks or using distress ink and a small paintbrush. Cut it in a banner shape. Distress the edges with Vintage Photo.

5. Attach the wreath to the distressed lumber piece. Pick three leaves and adhere them over the wreath using small foam dots. Attach a twine bow to the stems of the leaves. Attach the sentiment strip under the leaves using foam dots. Attach the entire piece to a standard 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card base cut from grey card stock.

That is it for this card. It is simple but the leaves make it really lovely. Photos don’t really do the colors/textures justice. Hope you like it! Have a wonderful week! -Lisa

  1. Lisa this is beautiful and could be doeable for me and the Hero Arts leaves I have. No mixed media paper and I’m leaving for San Antonio Monday. Could I use watercolor paper?
