Crazy Dog Birthday

July 10 was my youngest son’s 23rd birthday. Time sure flies!. I decided it was time to pull out the crazy dogs and the crazy things. If you don’t have the crazy things stamps and dies, in particular, you should consider it. It is chock full of fun things you can add to your projects- hats, balloons, ties, glasses etc etc- 33 stamps and dies! Of course, being a dog person, I got the crazy dogs but there are also birds and cats. I also wanted to use one of the alcohol ink backgrounds I’ve been accumulating.

Steps:

  1. First I made an alcohol ink background on a piece of yupo heavy stock. I sprayed the yupo with 91% isopropyl alcohol, then dripped the alcohol inks directly on the paper, then blew them around using the Tim Holtz air blower. I just played with inks and layers until I got the look I wanted. When dry, I cut this piece 5″ x 3 3/4″

2. I cut a standard 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ card base from purple card stock and a mat from the glossy black card stock 5 1/4″ x 4″. I also used a pierced rectangle die to cut a piece from the glossy black to go under my dog, 2″ x 2 7/8″

3. I stamped the bulldog, the party hat and the balloons in intens-ified black ink. I used a stamp positioner to stamp a couple of times to get a good outline. This ink is great for use with alcohol inks.

4. I then colored all the images with Copics and used the matching framelits to cut them out.

5. I stamped a sentiment from the Crazy Talk stamp set and trimmed it to 2 3/4″ x 9/16″ and matted it on a glossy black layer 3″ x 3/4″

6. Then I just assembled everything on my card base, popping up the dog and hat.

7. I added a piece of white card stock 5 1/4″ x 4″ to the inside with “Celebrate” from the Crazy Talk set stamped on it. I like to add a layer of white on the inside, particularly with dark card stock, for writing your personal message.

That’s it! Easy Peasy card today. Hope you like it! Have a fantastic week! – Lisa
