Lucky Love x 2

Today I have two quick projects using the Lucky Love 3-D Impresslit by Tim Holtz. They are both fairly simple straight forward projects. Sometimes I find after doing a large, involved project just doing some simple ones is kind of nice. This will be more of an overview rather than a step-by-step. Hope you enjoy them.

Lucky Love covered box

  • Sizzix/Tim Holtz Lucky Love 3-D Impresslit 665227
  • Tim Holtz Idea-ology Box Corners TH93003
  • Assorted paper flowers
  • silver washi tape
  • lace trim
  • paper doily
  • Tim Holtz/Ranger silver alcohol ink mixative (used to color flower centers)
  • woodgrain and silver paper
  • white gesso
  • Tim Holtz/Ranger distress acrylic paint- brushed pewter
  • Tim Holtz/Sizzix 3D texture fades embossing folder: Quilted 665734
  • Tim Holtz/Ranger distress crayon-black soot
  • FSJ Journey Glaze

This was an old box I had from a make up kit. It was originally hot pink and very smooth, so I first coated it with white gesso to give it some “tooth” to hold the pewter paint better.

After I painted it I added a piece of wood grain patterned paper to the top. Then I covered the edges with silver washi tape. I glued lace trim along the bottom edge of the box. I added box corners along the lid of the box (I cut off the “tails” of the brads and just glued the tops over the holes in the box corners).

I die cut the heart from Lucky Love twice- once from silver paper and once from wood grain paper. I rubbed black soot crayon over the floral area, wiping off the excess. I fussy cut just the heart portion from the wood grain paper and glued it over the silver heart. In this photo you may notice I had the grain going horizontally. On the finished box I switched it so that the grain ran vertically. I just liked how it looked better. To finish the heart, I coated the center portion with FSJ journey glaze (this is very similar to Crystal Effects)

I dyed the flower centers with silver alcohol mixative. The I layered the doily, heart, flowers and a metal piece I had to the top of the box.

For the inside of the box, I ran some pink card stock with the Quilted embossing folder, layered it on some foam and inserted into the bottom of the box.

Clover card

  • Tim Holtz/Sizzix Lucky Love 3D impresslit
  • FSJ Irish Luck stamp set AT-0245
  • Distress Archival Ink- Peeled Paint
  • Spellbinders Celtic weave 3D embossing folder
  • La La Land crafts Postage stamps die #8145
  • 2 3/8″ circle punch or die
  • gold sequins
  • Distress Ink in Vintage Photo (optional)

I cut out a clover in green paper with the Lucky Love Impresslit. Optionally, you can use the Vintage Photo distress ink to go over the edges and the clover to highlight the details. Stamp “Luck of the” on white paper and die cut with the postage stamp die. I ran the blue paper through my machine with the celtic weave embossing folder. I punched out a circle with a 2 3/8″ die. It’s kind of hard to see in the above photo so here is a close up:

I layered a 3″ square of gold paper on the card base, then popped up the blue with foam squares, making sure it covered the edges of the gold square. I popped up the sentiment, then glued my clover in the center of the gold square. I added a few gold sequins to tie it all together. On the inside of the card I stamped “Irish” with peeled paint distress archival.

I love the Impresslit line and I’m sad to hear it might be discontinued. I hope you enjoy these two quick and easy projects. Have a great week! —Lisa
